Thursday Sep. 12 - Another Hike and Roussillion

Today we got an early start (8:30) and headed to Gordes to take the hike from the village to the Abbey de Senanque.  This is the abbey that is in the very popular picture of the lavender field in front of the Abbey.  We heard that many tourists think this is the only place where lavender is grown.  The round trip mileage today was seven miles.

We then drove a few miles to Roussillion and walked through the town.  This is the area that is known for the red soil that is used for coloring paint.

We then joined our friends from Belgium for another dinner engagement in Bonnieux.  Had a great time at a "new for us" restaurant in Bonnieux.  The food was great and the company was even greater.  We will miss seeing them but will always be able to stay in touch on Facebook.
