It is Tuesday at 9PM local time and I am already way behind on the blog. I guess my best excuse is that we have been very busy doing "tourist" things.
Today we started with a visit to the Hotel Dieu, which is the original hospital here in Beaune. It was started in the 1400's and served the poor. The hospital was open until 1955. Here are a few pictures.
We then walked to a local park on the Bouzaize River (which runs under the town and the Hotel Dieu). Nice place for a picnic and included a little lake with rowboats and a few carp.
After that we took a short walk out into the vineyards before heading back into town. Had dinner at a different restaurant and we were not very impressed with the food or the service. There was one guy trying to cover 20 people - no way he could do it and it was clear that people were getting upset. We will not be going back there again.
Tomorrow we head back to the vineyards for a bike ride - we are looking forward to getting out of the city and getting a little exercise.
