Just a quick update to report the latest in regards to our plans.
We found out there will be a shortage of lease vehicles in France this year so we have secured a car for the entire time we are in France (except for the days we spend in Paris). It is very similar to the car we leased in 2011 only a little larger.
For our fourth week we have secured lodging at a B&B in Chamonix - http://www.demipiste.com/. We will spend six nights there and we are excited that Jim and Judy will join us for the remainder of the trip, including a brief stay in Paris. The French alps are an incredible area with lots of scenery and hiking. We can also visit Switzerland and Italy if time allows.
We will leave Chamonix on Friday, drop off the car at the Geneva airport and then take a high-speed train (TGV) to Paris - about a three hour trip. We will arrive at Gare de Lyon, check into the Hotel Palym (pa-leem) - http://www.paris-hotel-palym.com/ - and then head out to explore Paris. We will spend Friday afternoon and all day Saturday in Paris before heading home on Sunday.
For the air travel we have our round-trip tickets from Seattle to Paris. It will be nice to not have to deal with a connection at an airport other than Seattle. We will book a round-trip ticket to Seattle as we get closer to the trip in case they change the flight times.
Until August - au revoir.
